We can all benefit

I love the new mormon messages videos, they're like modern pass-along cards. They bring faith, hope, and encouragement and give us the wonderful opportunity to share the gospel with others. This one in particular caught my attention because it seems like the whole world is struggling right now, either financially, spiritually, or physically. We can all benefit from these words from Elder Cook and understand that we can be healed of our sufferings and afflictions through the Atonement of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. May we all have a constant rememberance of Him and accept His Atonement so that we may endure our trials well.

Music and Dancing from PR

Every Friday in Isla Verde, right on the beach the puertorican tourist company puts on a show for visitors that depicts various dances and music from past eras in the Puertorican culture. Matthew and I both love music and I love dancing so this was something we truly appreciated. Music, dance, and food are the first things that attract me most about new cultures. The dresses and bright colors that the women were wearing were glamorous and the dancing was simple yet entertaining.
The men played and sang beautifully. One of Matthew's desires before we leave the island is to buy a cuatro, the small guitar played by the two men on the left. It is a guitar that typically has four (or five) single or paired strings, they have a beautiful sound to them, we'll have to check them out.By the end of the show, the dancers pulled people from the crowd and invited them to dance with them. Guess who they chose? LOL. This lady was eyeing Matthew from the stage and headed straight for him then snatched him right from my side. She already had her victim in mind. Matthew doesn't like dancing because he feels like he doesn't know how and was a little apprehensive, but the the lady wouldn't take no for an answer. She quickly handed me the umbrella Matthew was carrying so she could drag him away and dance with him on stage. I enjoyed every minute of seeing him dancing. I think he did pretty good.

One Down :) Three To Go :(

Yesterday I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled out by Dr. Joseph Miller. He did an awesome job, I would recommend him to anyone. Joe is a dental student and is finishing up his last year here in Puerto Rico, just like Matthew. He is married to one of my very good friends Lily Miller. I wish them luck and know he will be an amazing dentist. My visit was an interesting experience, I decided to undergo the procedure with nitrous oxide (what we call laughing gas). This was my first time using nitrous. Well a couple of minutes after I began to inhale I felt a little light headed, I was ok, but after about five minutes I started to giggle then I couldn't stop laughing. Joe had warned me that I would feel like I drank two beers, and of course I had no idea what that felt like, so I was in for a surprise. Everything Joe was saying made me laugh, in my head I had to keep telling myself to stop laughing and that what he was saying was not funny at all, it helped a little, but I was still giggly.

Anyway, the surgery went fantastic and today I feel so much better. I'm still a bit swollen, but I can eat solid foods now and I'm not in pain anymore, thankgoodness. I was anxious to pull this one out in particular because it didn't grow all the way out and was still half way under my gums. It began to spring up about four months ago and It bothered the heck out of me because I couldn't clean it as well as I wanted to. So I'm glad that's over, but I'm not looking forward to pullng the rest of them out. Hopefully Joe can do it again since the Millers and us will both be in California for a few years.

Sorry if this disgusts anyone but I wanted to remember this interesting day with this picture. It's wierd because you never imagine them to actually be this huge. I can't believe this was buried in my gums!
(Thank you Krsiten for taking me so early and picking me up, and taking me to Walgreens to get some medicine, you're the best!!!).

Mar Chiquita

This weekend Matthew and I went out to Mar Chiquita Beach. This was my first time and I fell in love. It has become one of my favorite beaches, the scenic view over the reef is absolutely breathtaking. The color of the water is so vibrant with blues and greens, I just love it. Puerto Rico beaches are something I will definitely miss when we go back to California. You just can't even compare the two.
A view from the top.

I'm excited to bring the family here. They'll be here in two weeks.
The day was perfect too, it had been raining all week long, so we got lucky.

5 Things I've been up to

I know it's been a while, so, for those of you who are wondering what has been going on, here it goes:

1. School. I have one class left to graduate!!! I can't wait for that day, my official last day of school is June 29th.

2. Selling Furniture. As most of you know, Matthew and I will be returning to California for good, so I've been trying to sell off as much as I could while I still have time, and let me tell you, I'm so glad I'm doing this now and started early. It can be such a pain.

3. Preparing for Graduation. Matthew will be graduating as well, his graduation day is June 5th, so as you can imagine, his family will be coming. I'm excited, but I'm trying to organize everything so we don't have nothing but chaos when everyone arrives. Ok, you will never believe me, but we counted 21 people that will be coming for his graduation! 21 PEOPLE!!!. This is why I've been so busy, I even went ahead and made an itinery and calendar, there's just no other way! But now I know exactly what we will be doing each day, so I can plan meals and what not.

4. Photoshoot! My very talented friend, Lily Miller, gave Matthew and I a photo shoot last week. If you're interested you can see some of the pictures on her website: http://www.blahblahbebe.typepad.com. They turned out great and I've been spending time with her looking at favorites and picking the ones I like the most.

5. And last but not least, Exercising. I'm absolutely hooked on the show "The Biggest Loser" and it's really motivated me to get fit and eat healthy. Since I started, I've lost 12 pounds, and Matthew has lost 10 pounds (he just started about 2 weeks ago). It feels so good to know that our exercising is working, I feel so much better and have so much more energy. I have a goal to lose another 10 pounds before Matthew's family gets here. We'll be going to beaches and stuff so I want to look good you know. LOL. I also want to make it a goal to stay that way. It's going to be difficult but I think I can do it. I just have to get into a routine and stick with it.
